He won a plethora of honours at Chelsea and led the club through many battles, where they often came out on top. JT regularly faced top strikers in the Premier League, and the former Chelsea captain spoke on his personal TikTok account, revealing the five toughest strikers he played against in the Premier League.

John Terry Reveals the 5 Toughest Strikers He Faced in the PL

No. 1 – Thierry Henry

Revealing the five toughest strikers he faced in the Premier League:

“Here’s my all-time top five toughest strikers I’ve faced in the Premier League. No. 1 has to be Thierry Henry for me. Had absolutely everything. The one player I got nervous for the night before the game. He was so quick, could go both ways. Score with his head, incredible movement, and could embarrass you at any point, so he has to go in at No. 1 for me,” said Terry.

No. 2 – Wayne Rooney

“A very, very close second will be Wayne Rooney. I think Wayne’s the greatest ever England player to play in the Premier League, and certainly I’ve played with and against as well. (He) doesn’t get enough credit that he deserves, but an incredible player.

Read More: Chelsea’s Five Best Creators This Season

“Again, the movement could drop short, could make a double run, and go in behind. Could score with both feet, could do some things that could embarrass you, and I remember with him being like 17 and being super strong when he burst on the scene in 2004 against Portugal that summer. Just an incredible player, and someone I absolutely adore.”

No. 3 – Sergio Aguero

Revealing number three on his list:

“In number three would have to be (Sergio) Aguero. Again, for someone who’s really small, he was so strong and also wanted the fight. Enjoyed the fight and the tough moments as well. So you kind of give him a little bit, he’s kind of give you a bit back when the ball goes down the other end as well.”

Read More: Every Chelsea Wonderkid in Football Manager 26 Ranked

“Just a complete threat, always playing on the shoulder,” added Terry.

No. 4 – Alan Shearer

Looking back to the beginning of his career, JT reminisced on the challenges of playing against an experienced striker like Alan Shearer:

“No. 4 would have to be Alan Shearer. I played against Alan at the back end of his career. So Alan was kind of a little bit older. But I’ve never seen a player like Alan have the referees in his back pocket like he did. Just incredible. He’d foul you, then the ref then the ref would give him the foul. But again, really quick, really powerful. And some of the goals he scored in his Premier League time was phenomenal. Just an incredible player.”

No. 5 – Harry Kane

The final striker on Terry’s list was former Tottenham striker Harry Kane. JT spoke about the noticeable improvement in the striker’s game from year one to year two before talking about the class of Kane and Rooney:

“In No. 5 for me, has to be Harry Kane. In terms of pure intelligence, him and Wayne have to be right at the very top, because their game understanding was unbelievable,” said the former Chelsea captain.

Featured Image Credit:

IMAGO / Matthias Koch

John Terry will go down in history as one of the greatest defenders of his generation.
