Speaking ahead of a UEFA Champions League clash with Ajax, coach Enzo Maresca provided updates on two injured players. With the Blues currently on a run of three wins on the bounce it is easy to forget they have done so while dealing with an abnormal injury list that saw them finish the Liverpool win with two full-backs playing at centre-back. Chelsea fans will be happy to see the latest news, as Maresca indicates that two players could be nearing fitness.<\/p>\n

Chelsea Injury News Latest Update: Enzo Maresca Comments on Key Names<\/h2>\n

Enzo Fernandez<\/h3>\n

The Argentine Enzo Fernandez was sent back home early from international duty. After playing some minutes in his nation’s first friendly over the October break, he had a knee issue that saw him return to England. He then missed out on the squad to face Nottingham Forest at the weekend, sparking fears over his health.<\/p>\n

In speaking to the media, the manager confirmed<\/a> that the midfielder has taken part in training and it isn’t a worrying injury, rather an attempt to protect the player who has previously dealt with long-term injuries that needed surgery.<\/p>\n

Liam Delap<\/h3>\n

Probably the more surprising note is the manager’s update on striker Liam Delap<\/a> who got injured early in the campaign. The former Ipswich marksman went down with a muscular problem and hasn’t been factored into the squad ever since. Despite that, Maresca had a promising message about the attacker.<\/p>\n

According to the Italian coach, Delap is still out but will hopefully be able to return to training soon. A return to training could see the forward become available during the busy December run of fixtures to further ease the growing pressure on Joao Pedro who has been left to play a lot of minutes, usually isolated due to the absence of Cole Palmer.<\/p>\n
