The 25-year-old has been a real upgrade in the middle of the park and has already shown his qualities both on and off the ball.

The other arrival came in the form of versatile defender, Brodie Spencer. The 21-year-old, who arrived from Huddersfield, teams up with former Terrier Michal Helik and Northern Ireland teammate, Ciaron Brown. So far, he’s shown his versatility at the back and already looks a shrewd signing.

Loan Arrivals

Unlike last season, Rowett has utilised the loan market to its maximum with five players joining for the campaign.

Starting in defence, Ben Davies brings a wealth of Football League experience but won’t feature until after the international break.

There have also been three versatile midfielders who arrived in the summer. First, Luke Harris from Fulham looks like a promising addition. The 20-year-old has only featured from the bench after picking up a knock in pre-season but looks exciting.

Another who has only just come into the fold is Nik Prelec, but he’s shown positive moments when he’s been on the pitch. The final arrival is versatile attacker, Filip Krastev. The 23-year-old joined on deadline day but can play on the wing or behind the striker, giving Rowett further adaptability in the final third.

The final loan arrival has already hit the ground running with two goals from four league matches. Will Lankshear is highly thought of at Tottenham so he’ll be hoping for plenty of goals in a yellow shirt this season.

Oxford United Departures

There was a mix of departures for Oxford during the summer window, with three somewhat surprising on a permanent basis.

Ruben Rodrigues made a switch to the Brazilian top-flight side with Vitoria before Idris El Mizouni returned to his former club, Leyton Orient. Then, on deadline day, club captain Elliott Moore left the club by mutual consent after six years of service.

In terms of less surprising departures, Stuart Findlay stayed in Scotland after joining Hearts on loan, while Will Goodwin and Stephan Negru dropped to League Two with Colchester and Bristol Rovers respectively.

James Golding also made a move to the fourth tier as he made his first steps in the Football League at Crewe while Jordan Thorniley, Peter Kioso and Owen Dale left on loan to League One clubs, Northampton, Peterborough and Plymouth.

It was an interesting approach to the summer transfer window for Oxford United, with the U’s bringing in seven new faces.
