Leicester City Set to Win Race For Jordan James<\/h2>\n

Jordan James: Leicester City Bound?<\/h3>\n

As reported by Rob Dorsett<\/a>, the Foxes are close to securing a loan deal for Jordan James. The Welsh international came through the Birmingham City academy before joining the first team at 17 years old. He then went on to make over 100 appearances for the club and was one of the bright sparks in the club’s 2023\/24 relegation campaign. As a result, a move to Ligue 1 side Rennes was complete for the following season.<\/p>\n

Talks between Rennes and the Foxes have progressed well, and the player is ‘keen’ on a move to the East Midlands. Interest was also there from Wrexham, but City seem to have beaten the Welsh side in the race. Despite Phil Parkinson’s side’s improvements and Leicester’s lack of business, a move to the King Power still seems more attractive, especially as the club sits 4th in the league with just one defeat.<\/p>\n

How Does This Affect Leicester City?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Acquiring James would be another positive move for the club on a busy deadline day. The 21-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder who can offer quality in all areas of the pitch. Last time out in the Championship, he managed eight goals, two of which came against Enzo Maresca’s Foxes.<\/p>\n

Although his spell in France may not have gone perfectly, he also offers a vast amount of experience. 20 caps for the Welsh national team and 130 senior appearances bode well when it comes to a move to Leicester. He won’t have to adjust to the league and should therefore hit the ground running. When talking about James in 2023, Wales boss Rob Page said<\/a>, “He reads the game well, he\u2019s athletic, he likes a tackle, he can pass the ball, he can head it, he ticks a lot of boxes; he has got everything.”<\/p>\n

City’s need for improvements in midfield has been evident, and signing James with\u00a0Ramsey should be helpful. Oliver Skipp and Boubakary Soumar\u00e9 have been the preferred double pivot thus far, and although they worked well together against Birmingham City, there are major problems.
