As reported by Rob Dorsett<\/a>, City are “reluctant to meet” Millwall’s valuation of Mihailo Ivanovic. The Serbian forward arrived in the second tier just over one year ago and has since taken the league by storm. The 20-year-old hit double figures for the Lions, which was crucial in their ninth-place finish in the league.<\/p>\n

Millwall value the striker at \u00a310m upfront, with an extra \u00a32m in add-ons. With the Foxes’ lack of business this summer, it comes as no surprise that they are unwilling to pay the lucrative sum. In addition, Ayew and Daka are still options who can do a job in this division.<\/p>\n

For much of the summer, there has been a focus on outgoings. Bilal El Khannouss’ <\/a>move to Stuttgart looks imminent, whilst others, such as Mads Hermansen and James Justin, have already made their moves back to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Missing out on a player of Ivanovic’s quality could be costly for Marti Cifuentes’ side. He has already adapted incredibly well to the league and has a profile that would bode well with the way the Spaniard wants to play. He can strike with either foot, win headers, and score in many different ways. The Serbian would also be a physical nuisance for defenders, which is a further way in which he differs from the current forward options.<\/p>\n

However, there may also be some positives. It has become evident throughout the summer that the club want to spend less, which may help next season if they go straight back up. The gap between the Championship and Premier League is increasing every year, and having the financial backing to strengthen is important. As a result, the board may have a belief that the Foxes do not need reinforcements to go back up. In their first four fixtures, three wins and one loss have come, which further suggests that this idea may be true.
