After a dismal summer for summer<\/a> signings, Leicester City have announced their first outfield addition. Departures have been the focus for much of the window as City look to rebuild following a second relegation in three years. Mads Hermansen, James Justin and Wilfred Ndidi were among the more high-profile exits as they moved on to new clubs. However, with just a couple of days left to sign players, the Foxes have found their man in Julian Carranza.<\/p>\n

Feyenoord Striker Makes Loan Move To Leicester City<\/h2>\n

Julian Carranza: New Leicester City Player<\/h3>\n

As announced<\/a> by the club, Julian Carranza is a Leicester City player. The 25-year-old arrived in Rotterdam back in 2024 following a strong stint in the MLS with Philadelphia Union. He tallied 63 goal contributions in 95 appearances for the club, which eventually led to his move to the Eredivisie.<\/p>\n

For the Dutch club, he managed just five goals and one assist, which seems underwhelming on the eye. However, he struggled with injuries throughout the season and had glimpses of quality. One example that shows this is his terrific header away at the San Siro, which eliminated AC Milan.<\/p>\n

The deal is a loan, with an option to buy, which provides little risk for the Foxes. Last time out in the Championship, the Foxes utilised their fair share of loans as Abdul Fatawu, Callum Doyle, Yunus Akg\u00fcn and Cesare Casadei all arrived at the King Power. If the Argentine manages to perform well, then a permanent move could be on the cards for the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n

How Does This Affect Leicester City?<\/h3>\n

With Asmir Begovic the sole signing so far, acquiring a new striker was always important. Carranza arrives with a strong profile to add to the club’s options up front. He is physical, can link play and also be a threat in the penalty area. This is something both Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew have been lacking, as there is evidence of the duo reducing\u00a0the team’s threat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The forward has also played at a higher level than the Championship, with seven appearances in the Champions League. During the aforementioned game against AC Milan, Ole Gunnar Solskj\u00e6r even praised the forward’s movement, as he stated<\/a> “He makes it difficult for the defenders”. To be a threat against a top-level defender is a positive in itself, especially when transitioning to the Championship.<\/p>\n

Despite the positives, it is unclear whether or not the forward will be able to get back to his heights in America.
