Player ‘Only Wanted Arsenal’<\/h3>\n

Fabrizio Romano has revealed<\/a> that Arsenal have agreed a deal for Mosquera to join. He gave his famous “Here We Go”, meaning that only a medical stands in the way of the transfer being completed. There is a “verbal agreement in place with formal steps to follow”.<\/p>\n

The Gunners will pay an up-front fee of around \u00a313 million, with add-ons taking the deal higher, though no more than \u00a317 million. With regards to the player, he “only wanted Arsenal” despite interest from other clubs, and has a long-term contract in place. The Spaniard will undergo his medical later this week.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein, of The Athletic, understands<\/a> that Arsenal see Mosquera as “ideal cover” for their starting centre-backs, clearly putting a lot of faith in the 21-year-old. He reveals that they had considered a move for Dean Huijsen,<\/a> who had a \u00a350 million release clause, though Real Madrid picked Bournemouth’s starboy up quickly.<\/p>\n

Cristhian Mosquera Fits the Mikel Arteta Mould<\/h3>\n

With Takehiro Tomiyasu’s contract being terminated, Arsenal needed some more cover, not only at centre-back but also at full-back. Mosquera is perfect for this: he is a natural central defender, but can also play at right-back. Mikel Arteta clearly has a type: Ben White and Jurrien Timber also fit this hybrid mould of centre-back\/full-back.
