Newcastle United are set to sign Anthony Elanga for \u00a355 million (Fabrizio Romano)<\/a> in an attempt to strengthen the squad ahead of their upcoming Champions League campaign. The forward had thrived for Nottingham Forest in the 2o24\/25 season, scoring six and assisting 12 in the league, and unsurprisingly the club had been very unwilling to sell. It now appears that the transfer for the “menace”<\/a> will go through regardless.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest’s Unwillingness Ignored<\/h3>\n

On June 24, Romano had revealed<\/a> that Newcastle had submitted a \u00a345 million bid for the Swede, but that Forest had rebutted this without a counter-offer. They had “no intention” of selling. However, after missing out on Joao Pedro who signed Chelsea, the Magpies came back with a \u00a355 million bid<\/a> for their target.<\/p>\n

Romano now breaks the news that this bid has been accepted, with a deal in place, club-to-club. Furthermore, there is an agreement in place with the player’s camp for a long-term deal. The journalist gives his famous “Here We Go” which means that the only thing left in the transfer saga is the player’s medical; this transfer is ready to happen.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein, of The Athletic, has now added<\/a> that the \u00a355 million includes \u00a33 million of bonuses. The player signs on a five-year deal and will complete his medical within 48 hours.<\/p>\n

Their new player will join up with an elite set of teammates across the pitch, but particularly in the frontline. Alexander Isak is the striker and, after other movements in the striker market, looks set to stay despite interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs. He netted an impressive 23 in the league last campaign.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, an England international in Anthony Gordon starts on the left-wing. The 24-year-old has the position locked down despite competing with Harvey Barnes. For right-wing options, Barnes was one, though Jacob Murphy was often the first.
