The Blues legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has cast doubt on the striker’s ability to adapt to life in the Premier League: “I know he’s your countryman (Nigeria), but I’m not convinced of Osimhen for the Premier League. For Spain, for Italy, yes. For Premier Leahue, I’m not 100% sure.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicolas Jackson is the Answer<\/h3>\n

Hasselbaink then declared his support for Jackson, who, despite showing signs of promise, has received plenty of criticism for his performances and behaviour, following his red card against Flamengo in the Club World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I <\/span>really<\/span> like (Nicolas) Jackson. I <\/span>really<\/span> like Jackson. Why? Because he brings a lot of energy to the team. People don’t see that. The pressing from the front. The work rate. All that kind of stuff is <\/span>very important<\/span> for a successful team,” <\/span><\/em>said the ex-Chelsea striker.<\/span><\/p>\n

When pressed by Obi Mikel regarding Jackson’s missed chances, the Dutchman said: <\/span>“He needs to get better at that. But I’d rather have a striker that gets lots of chances than a striker that doesn’t get chances.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“First of all, he’s getting chances, now we can work on his finishing, make him calmer and make him understand. Let’s not forget, before Villareal, he was playing nowhere.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

“He’s still very young,”<\/span><\/em> added Hasselbaink.<\/span><\/p>\n
