As reported by David Ornstein<\/a>, the Clarets are \u201cclosing in on\u201d a move for Walker. The 35-year-old is taking his medical before the permanent move, which includes a two-year deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, the deal is said to be worth up to \u00a35m if bonuses are achieved. Ornstein also adds that Scott Parker’s side will see this as a ‘major coup’, due to the Englishman’s experience and success in the league.<\/p>\n

The Manchester City legend’s arrival will add to the many signings completed by Burnley this summer. Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea, Lazio’s Loum Tchaouna and Marcus Edwards are some of the standout incomings, as the club looks to remain in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Having almost 100 caps for England and appearing over 400 times in the Premier League, Walker brings an immense amount of experience. This is significant due to the youthful arrivals this summer and the need for leaders within the squad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Moreover, the England international also offers quality. His time under Guardiola showcased his talents both in possession and when one versus one. Defensive solidity will be key for the Clarets in the upcoming season, especially after their record-breaking 30 clean sheet season.<\/p>\n

However, Walker still has some drawbacks. Due to age, he has lost his pace, which has always been a standout attribute. Many of the negatives were exposed towards the end of his time at the Etihad, as his side went on a disastrous run.
