The Black Cats earned their return to the top flight, courtesy of a Tom Watson stunner in injury time. A move for Greenwood could be plausible from the North East side as they look to strengthen, and also have the advantage of the club being his hometown team.

If Leicester do go all in for the Leeds talent, it would be their first piece of business this summer. Activity from the club thus far has been minimal, with more of an impetus on outgoings. The likes of Jamie Vardy and Danny Ward have already left the club, whilst younger, more lucrative assets Mads Hermansen and Bilal El Khannouss could also depart.

How Greenwood Could Look at Leicester City

Although the club hasn’t confirmed Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s future, with such little time until pre-season, it’s reasonable to expect that he will remain at the club. The Dutchman’s stint in the Premier League will be regarded as one of the worst of all time, as his side went nine games without a point.

Despite this, it will likely be a fresh start when in the second tier. Greenwood could fit the new change and add a versatile option upfront. He can play off either wing, lead the line and even play as a 10. This array of skills could blend well with the upcoming 46-game season, where depth will be key.

In addition, the Englishman also has an eye for a goal. He was prolific at youth level, as he scored a combined total of over 40 goals for Leeds and Arsenal. This also translated into his time in the Championship as he has found the net on 12 occasions. Although this may seem low for an attacker, he also plays a deeper role at times.

When describing himself back in 2020, Greenwood stated, “I am a striker who is both footed and like to make runs in behind and like to run at defenders and find half a yard and get my shots off.”

In addition to this, his technical ability, being ambipedal and quality from dead-ball situations, make him a valuable asset for any side.
