Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has confirmed that the two sides have started club-to-club talks over the Spanish Prodigy. He also adds that\u00a0Villa made contact this week to start discussions, which shows Unai Emery’s side being proactive in capturing the Spaniard.<\/p>\n

Romano also acknowledged that other clubs will be interested in the Aston Villa target. He stated that Rodriguez is on the shortlist of several teams. The arrival of the 19-year-old to Villa Park would be the second signing of the summer after Yasin Ozcan joined from Turkey. Despite solidifying his place within the Real Betis squad, the young winger may not immediately be Emery’s first choice. This is because he is still young and raw, and needs the development time. His stats of just three goals and an assist last season show this, although his influence on games shows a different story.<\/p>\n

In terms of playing style, Rodriguez is incredibly athletic and quick. This explosive nature, mixed with his tall frame, makes him a handful for defenders, not only one versus one but also in transition. This level of athleticism is unheard of for many players and makes his profile so unique given his “lightning quick”<\/a> speed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, there are also many areas in which he needs to improve. For example, against low blocks, he tends to struggle more as there isn’t the same open space.
