After a disastrous 2024\/25 campaign, Leicester City have found themselves back in the Championship for the second time in three years. As a result of this and potential action from the\u00a0<\/span>EFL over PSR issues<\/span><\/a>, we could likely see many academy players <\/span>breakthrough<\/span>. <\/span>This wouldn’t be new for the Foxes, <\/span>after seeing<\/span> the success of <\/span>the likes of<\/span> Ben Chilwell, Harvey Barnes, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in recent years.<\/span> In addition, with the state-of-the-art training facilities, it is no surprise that young talent has been flourishing. For example, this past season saw debuts for 16-year-old Jake Evans and 15-year-old Jeremy Monga. Therefore, with all this talent coming through, let’s see who could be the next player to make the first team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leicester City Academy Players to Watch Out for<\/span><\/h2>\n

Stevie Bausor<\/span><\/h3>\n

Goalkeeper Stevie Bausor could be one to watch in between the sticks. The 20-year-old is coming off the back of a successful first season in Premier League 2, as he helped his side finish 10th. <\/span>Throughout the season, he also gained experience with the first team in training sessions, pre-season and as <\/span>third-choice<\/span> keeper<\/span> on matchdays.<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of playing style, Bausor excels in shot-stopping, whilst being comfortable with the ball at his feet. These abilities could see him play an increased role in pre-season, especially after Brad Young, Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward have all departed. In addition, with the sale of Mads Hermansen also looking likely, Bausor could be an option for Leicester City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Henry Cartwright<\/span><\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, midfield dictator Henry Cartwright could also be a breakout player. The 20-year-old recently signed a new deal to extend his stay in Leicester until 2026, after a brilliant campaign. In a deeper <\/span>role in midfield<\/span>, major pressure is put on Cartwright during <\/span>build-up<\/span>, but he consistently delivers.<\/span><\/p>\n

He shows\u00a0<\/span>terrific passing range<\/span><\/a>, with his diagonal passes being a standout weapon. In addition, the English-International is also press-resistant and shows real talent in keeping the ball. <\/span>Defensively, he also <\/span>looks<\/span> to be physically mature and <\/span>able to be<\/span> a screen for the backline.<\/span> Therefore, he could see his first minutes for the first time soon, especially as the situation with Harry Winks is yet to be resolved.<\/span><\/p>\n

Logan Briggs<\/span><\/h3>\n

Welsh-International Logan Briggs may also get his chance to show his capabilities in the first team. The 19-year-old, who signed his first professional deal last season, has excelled for the club’s Under-21s side in the past two years. <\/span>He scored four goals<\/span>, <\/span>whilst registering<\/span> four assists last season, <\/span>which was<\/span> a tally <\/span>good enough to<\/span> put him in contention for the\u00a0<\/span>February Player Of The Month<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Briggs is a versatile <\/span>profile<\/span>, <\/span>as he has<\/span> played on either wing and in central areas.<\/span> Furthermore, he is also comfortable with both feet, which is another important asset and adds to his versatility. In front of <\/span>goal<\/span>, he also shows real composure in his finishing. Whilst Briggs would deserve a chance in pre-season at this stage of his development, external factors may hurt this. This could be due to the vast number of players in these areas, with the likes of Will Alves, Michael Golding and Monga all looking for minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jayden Joseph<\/span><\/h3>\n

Another versatile option within the Leicester City academy is Jayden Joseph. The 19-year-old made the move to the East Midlands three years ago and hasn’t looked back since. <\/span>He joined <\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Manchester City<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and immediately made an impact <\/span>as he became<\/span> a prominent figure in the Under-18s.<\/span><\/p>\n

These performances led to another standout season for the under-21s. He is comfortable on either side of the pitch and has a well-rounded skill set. As a product of Manchester City, it comes as no surprise that he is incredibly technically refined and able to affect games from all areas.
