After winning just one point since January of this year, Leicester City have finally found their second win of 2025. In a game with little meaning against 20th-placed Southampton, the Foxes looked far superior as they picked up all three points. Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side now travel to Nottingham for an East Midlands derby this Saturday. How Leicester Have Lined Up Recently<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Last time out, Van Nistelrooy tweaked his 4-2-3-1 system to his personnel as Luke Thomas played as a high-flying wing-back, whilst James Justin tucked into a back three. At the King Power Stadium, Jakub Stolarczyk made his first start in months after Mads Hermansen’s injury.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Conor Coady and Wout Faes then formed a centre-back partnership, whilst Caleb Okoli was once again sidelined. Academy graduate Luke Thomas started on the left as he continues his run of form. In the pivot, Wilfred Ndidi and Oliver Skipp formed a trio due to both Harry Winks and Boubakary Soumar\u00e9 being ineligible. Off the left, Bilal El Khannouss put together one of his best performances in royal blue as he picked up an assist. Kasey McAteer and Jordan Ayew further made up the attacking positions, with the duo being replaced by teenagers Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans. <\/span>Leicester legend Jamie Vardy then led the line as he found the net for the 199th time for the Foxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leicester\u2019s Recent Form And Tactics<\/span><\/h3>\n

The adaptability of the Dutchman against the Saints was key in the victory, as Thomas excelled in forward areas. The first half suggested this as he combined with El Khannouss for the first goal. This dominance is further exemplified by the home side having eight shots on goal compared to Southampton’s four.<\/p>\n

Ayew then later added to this in the 44th minute as his rebounded shot from a free kick found Aaron Ramsdale’s bottom left corner. The second 45 then saw similar control, as Leicester once again had more shots.<\/p>\n

In a clash between two sides in the bottom two places in the league, the standard was still poor. Despite this, Leicester’s control could bode well ahead of the Championship next season.<\/p>\n

As part of the end-of-season injury crisis, Hermansen, Pereira, and many others have been confirmed to still be out. Despite this, one positive to come from the press conference is that Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte returns following injury.<\/span><\/p>\n
