Fabian Hurzeler <\/span>was backed<\/span> going into an important season for Brighton, with European football in their sights. How Brighton Transfers Have Faired In Record-Breaking Window<\/span><\/h2>\r\n

Ferdi Kadioglu – 6<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

The Fenerbache <\/span>left-back <\/span>had been<\/span> signed for almost \u00a330 million, a Super Lig record. One of the most versatile players in the world, the Turkish international predominantly plays left-back but can play in midfield and <\/span>in<\/span> attack. This is due to his incredible technical ability, <\/span>being<\/span> a perfect fit for Hurzeler’s squad.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

He started brightly for the Seagulls, <\/span>having featured<\/span> in nine games between August and the start of October. He has not played since then <\/span>with<\/span> injuries putting him on the sidelines. His last game for the Seagulls was <\/span>in<\/span> a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, where he scored his first Brighton goal.<\/span> Fans will be eager for the full-back’s return to action, which could be as late as next season.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mats Wieffer – 5<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

Signed from Feyenoord for \u00a325 million, the 25-year-old <\/span>was brought in<\/span> to bolster Brighton’s midfield numbers. <\/span>A deep-lying midfielder who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He can also push on up the field with his explosive accelerations <\/span>and<\/span> powerful strides, making him threatening from deep.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

He<\/span> has shown signs of potential <\/span>since the move to England<\/span> but has failed to convince Hurzeler of a regular starting spot, with only four of his 19 appearances being starts.<\/span> Injuries have also halted this process, with some poor performances <\/span>along the way<\/span>. Despite this, many Brighton fans see him as a future starter alongside Carlos Baleba.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Georginio Rutter – 9<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

Brighton’s transfer record signing has not disappointed since signing from Championship side Leeds United. The Premier League outfit bought the Frenchman for \u00a340 million after he showed his potential in the Championship last season. Primarily an offensive player, Rutter can play as a number nine or 10. A fast and <\/span>powerful<\/span> player, Rutter uses his strength to his advantage as he keeps ahold of the ball and causes confusion in the opposition’s back line.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The <\/span>record-signing<\/span> had a slow start<\/span> but has been one of Brighton’s best players in the second half of the campaign. A big part of this is down to his improvement in front of goal, with Rutter boosting his tally to eight goals and five assists this term. Unfortunately, Rutter may miss the rest of the season through <\/span>injury<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> A <\/span>big miss for the Seagulls after a promising start.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Brajan Gruda – 5<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

It was a <\/span>breakthrough<\/span> season for Gruda<\/span> last term, with the German attacker making a name for himself playing for Mainz. His technical ability and ball control make him hard to defend<\/span>. This<\/span> persuaded Brighton to spend \u00a325 million on the 20-year-old.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This<\/span> is starting to look <\/span>more<\/span> like an investment, with Gruda not having made the impact many may have expected. The exciting German talent has only played 16 league games this season, with a measly five starts. <\/span>With him having almost <\/span>completed<\/span> his first term in English football, he has said that he has <\/span>‘<\/span>settled<\/span><\/a>‘<\/span> in Brighton, ready <\/span>to finally make an impact<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Yankuba Minteh – 8<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

Minteh\u00a0<\/span>signed\u00a0<\/span>from\u00a0<\/span>Newcastle\u00a0<\/span>United\u00a0<\/span>for\u00a0<\/span>\u00a330\u00a0<\/span>million.\u00a0<\/span>He\u00a0<\/span>played\u00a0<\/span>his\u00a0<\/span>football\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>loan\u00a0<\/span>at\u00a0<\/span>Feyenoord\u00a0<\/span>last\u00a0<\/span>season.\u00a0<\/span>He\u00a0<\/span>showcased\u00a0<\/span>his\u00a0<\/span>talent with an<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>impressive\u00a0<\/span>season.<\/span> <\/span>His pace is a cheat code against defenders, <\/span>with<\/span> quick feet and<\/span> a <\/span>dangerous left foot <\/span>making<\/span> him a lethal winger.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Similar to<\/span> Rutter, he has grown into this Brighton team as the season went on, nailing down the right-wing role ahead <\/span>of the likes<\/span> of Gruda and Simon Adingra.<\/span> With nine goal contributions in 26 Premier League games, he has brought his goal threat from the Netherlands. <\/span>This<\/span> is <\/span>made<\/span> more incredible with the 20-year-old <\/span>having<\/span> played in the <\/span>Gambian league<\/span><\/a> four years ago.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Matt O’Riley – 6<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

The \u00a325 million signing from Celtic made the worst possible start after his Brighton transfer, with him having to come off injured in the 4-0 Carabao Cup win against Sussex rivals Crawley Town. The Danish midfielder returned from ankle surgery in style after he scored the winner against Manchester City in the league.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

He has made 14 appearances for Brighton this season and has shown his versatility in midfield, filling in a <\/span>deeper<\/span> and more offensive role throughout the season. These appearances have been patchy, with him having failed to play a full 90-minute game, which has “<\/span>frustrated<\/span><\/a>” him. Another signing with promise and <\/span>potential,<\/span> but held back with stints on the sidelines.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Ibrahim Osman – 6<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

The young Ghanaian was brought in from Danish team FC Nordsjalland<\/span>, with technical<\/span> director <\/span>David Weir<\/span><\/a> having said he was<\/span> “a young and exciting prospect<\/span>“.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

He has played <\/span>his<\/span> football in Feyenoord on loan this season, where he has <\/span>scored<\/span> three times in 19 games.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Malick Yalcouye – 6<\/span><\/h3>\r\n

Signed for \u00a36 million from IFK Gothenburg, the 18-year-old Malian midfielder has played his football in Austria for Strum Graz on loan for the 24\/25 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Described by Hurzeler as a “<\/span>talented midfielder<\/span><\/a>“, Yalcouye has scored four goals in 30 appearances this season. <\/span>This<\/span> included him making his Champions League debut.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Amario Cozier-Duberry – 5<\/span><\/h3>\r\n
