Oxford United<\/a> saw their latest fixture end in a goalless draw<\/a> at Pride Park against relegation-threatened Derby.<\/p>\n

It was a non-event for most of the game but the U’s left the East Midlands with what could be a vital point come the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Oxford United Draw at Derby<\/h2>\n

Lack of Attacking Impetus<\/h3>\n

Oxford headed into the break having had just one attempt on the Derby goal.<\/p>\n

That came from Siriki Dembele midway through the first half when his long-range effort was tipped over by the Rams goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Despite attempts on goal after the break, that shot was the only one on target that Rowett’s side mustered all game.<\/p>\n

It was a frustrating evening for the travelling Oxford fans, who have now found the net just once in their last four games.<\/p>\n

Clean Sheet<\/h3>\n

Having conceded an unfortunate own goal at Burnley last time out, it was important for Oxford’s defence to show their resoluteness again.<\/p>\n

Jamie Cumming was tested between the sticks but, on the whole, the backline put in another decent display.<\/p>\n

The fullbacks didn’t get forward as often as they have in recent weeks, but as a unit defensively, they rarely put a foot wrong when the hosts attacked.<\/p>\n

Feisty Encounter<\/h3>\n

There may have only been one yellow card in the game but it was a high-tempered encounter from both sets of players.<\/p>\n

The referee was often in the spotlight with both sides nibbling at opposing players, shirt pulls and hefty shoulder barges in what was a physical evening.<\/p>\n
