Here is our Arsenal predicted lineup.

Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs Newcastle United in EFL Cup Semi-Final Second Leg

How Arsenal Have Lined-up Recently

David Raya returned from injury and made a number of crucial saves to keep the Gunners on track to a 5-1 routing of Manchester City.

Myles Lewis-Skelly also started at left-back against City, scoring his first Arsenal goal and causing trouble all game rampaging up the wing. He played alongside Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba in defence.

The midfield three were all involved in the recent goalscoring frenzy, with Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey scoring and Declan Rice providing two assists.

A front three of Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard made their third successive Premier League outing all starting together.

Read More: Abuse in Football: Referees, Players, Managers and Families All Suffer

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

Since their two successive cup defeats in January, the Gunners have gone from strength to strength in the league and Europe.

Arsenal’s recent Premier League form is four wins and two draws in their last six matches. Their last loss in normal time was that 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.

Arteta is confident about his team going into this all-important semi-final, saying: “[we have] momentum and after that game as well we have a break so it’s the moment to go full gas, ready to go for it and try to approach it in the way that we believe is the best one to win that final.”

Crucially, he also spoke about the need to be flexible with his personnel, setting up his team up to the demands of each match.

Arteta said: “We’re going to have to be very flexible in the front line and now the ones that we have and are fit, make sure that they stay fit and they keep contributing. Leo can play in that position. Raheem has played in that position. Ethan, I think, can play in that position. Martinelli can play there. Let’s see in relation to how everybody is, moment, opponent, but at some point, I think we’re going to have to try something different.”

Arsenal haven’t won the League Cup since 1993 and two nil down from the first leg, they will need to go all-out at St James Park if they are to reach the final. So while Arteta has usually used his 4-3-3 system to control games and limit damage this season, he’ll need to get his team into whatever gear they were in against City to maximise their goalscoring threat.

Arsenal Injuries and Absentees to Consider

Arteta will be thankful that his side have suffered no new injuries. He also gave a new update on Ben White’s fitness.

He said: “No news from the game against City and Ben is still out, hopefully after the break he will be available.

“[And Saka?] No, not yet.”

Other than White and Saka, Arsenal’s injury list currently includes Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus both of which are recovering from long-term injuries.

Read More: Manchester United Crisis Deepens: £120k P/W ACL Nightmare Ends Season

Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Newcastle United

GK: David Raya

RB: Jurrien Timber

CB: William Saliba

CB: Gabriel Magalhaes

LB: Riccardo Calafiori

CM: Mikel Merino

CM: Declan Rice

CM: Martin Odegaard

RW: Gabriel Martinelli

STR: Kai Havertz

LW: Leandro Trossard

Two-nil down from the first leg, Arsenal will be determined to make up the deficit as they travel to Newcastle United for the second leg of their EFL Cup Semi-final.
