Here is our predicted line-up for Eddie Howe’s men as Fulham travel to St James Park.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup vs Fulham

How Newcastle Have Lined Up Recently

Howe has been in the fortunate position of having a settled side that he relies upon to remain competitive at the top end of the table. It’s not easy when Champions League qualification is your goal.

Read More: What If Jürgen Klopp Became Bayern Munich Coach in 2008

Martin Dubravka remains as first choice despite Nick Pope returning from injury. Tino Livramento’s excellent form at right-back means Kieran Trippier has to settle regularly for a place on the bench. Lewis Hall is an automatic choice at left-back. Dan Burn has had either Fabian Schar or Sven Botman as a partner in central defence and the middle three have been a constant in this run of good form.

Read More: What Newcastle United Need to Do This January Transfer Window

The combination of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are as good as any trio in the league. Alexander Isak’s name is on every rich club’s list as a potential signing, but he has retained his focus and as well as scoring freely, links up well with wide men Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy.

Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley, Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman among others are good options to have with other regulars on the substitute’s bench.

Newcastle United Recent Form and Tactics

It’s always a good sign when a top team loses a game surprisingly but bounces back immediately with an impressive win. Newcastle United did this when losing to Bournemouth at St James Park and then winning comfortably at St Mary’s against Southampton. Was the Bournemouth defeat a blip? You would think so given their record now stands at nine wins from their previous ten games.

Read More: Manchester City ‘Starlet’ Stirs Up Bundesliga Attention In Search of Minutes

The onus, of course, is on the home side to take the game to the opposition but Newcastle do this willingly, urged on by a fanatical support desperate for success. It should be a good contest in the wide areas with the quick and powerful Adama Traore taking the place of the injured Harry Wilson for Fulham. At St James Park, Newcastle rely heavily on the penetration from Gordon and Murphy as well as full backs Livramento and Hall. Tonali has been an impressive central midfield player for Newcastle with Joelinton and Guimaraes asked to do more creative things further forward.

Newcastle United Injuries to Consider

Harvey Barnes misses out again, joining Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles on the injury list. Miguel Almiron has completed his move to Atlanta United allowing Eddie Howe to begin to turn his squad around. Nick Pope is back to full fitness and made the bench in the win over Southampton, but Howe is likely to stick with Martin Dubravka.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup

GK Martin Dubravka

RFB Tino Livramento

RCB Fabian Schar

LCB Dan Burn

RM Bruno Guimaraes

CM Sandro Tonali

LM Joelinton

RW Jacob Murphy

STR Alexander Isak

LW Anthony Gordon

After losing heavily in their last home game, four-one to Bournemouth, Newcastle United responded well to that surprising defeat by travelling to the south coast and beating rock-bottom Southampton to maintain their recent good form.
