Leicester City\u2019s dismal run of form came to an end at the weekend as they picked up their first points since early December in a 2-1 away win against Tottenham Hotspur. This Saturday, February 1, Ruud Van Nistelrooy\u2019s side travel up North to Merseyside as they look to build upon their win last time out. How Leicester City Have Lined-up Recently<\/h3>\n

Last time out, the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation was utilised by the Foxes but with much more success compared to their recent performances.<\/p>\n

Jakub Stolarczyk put on a Man of the Match performance, which was key in his side taking all three points. Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard made up a centre-back partnership, with Conor Coady joining them late on. Viktor Kristiansen and James Justin provided the width, as they have done all season, but new signing Woyo Coulibaly came on with a minute to go. Meanwhile, Harry Winks and Boubakary Soumar\u00e9 made up a double pivot in front of the backline.<\/p>\n

Jordan Ayew retained his position off the right, as Facundo Buonanotte was benched. On the opposite side, Bobby Decordova Reid made his third league start of the season and earned two assists. Then, in the centre, Bilal El Khannouss continued his impressive run of form with the match-winning goal. Leading the line as of late has been Jamie Vardy, who scored yet another goal against Spurs.<\/p>\n

Leicester City\u2019s Recent Form and Tactics<\/h3>\n

The poor form for the Foxes ended with a much-needed win against the out-of-form Spurs side. As a result of the victory, Leicester’s seven losses in a row in the league streak ended whilst simultaneously getting them out of the relegation zone. 17th is where the East-Midlands-based side sits coming into this weekend’s game, as Ipswich and Wolves both lost.<\/span><\/p>\n

Postecoglou’s side edged out the visitors in the first-half with Richarlison scoring just after the 30th minute. However, this dramatically changed in the second half. Within just five minutes of the second half, Spurs found themselves behind as Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss sealed a resilient comeback.<\/div>\n

Van Nistelrooy’s side would then hold on to this lead till the end with huge saves coming from Stolarczyk. Three points coming away from home was much needed given the toxicity around the club after the defeat to Fulham.<\/div>\n

It is clear that the 4-2-3-1 formation can work if the defence is more organized as individual errors have often led to them dropping points.
