This social media post followed an exclusive update<\/a> on January 23, 2025, that outlined the club’s interest in the defender along with approaches from both Barcelona and Eintracht Frankfurt.<\/p>\n

Heaven was part of the Gunners’ preseason squad that had faced the likes of Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. From that stage, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles-Lewis Skelly have gone on leaps and bounds and many fans clamour to see both graduates start games. But Heaven seemingly felt his future was best elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Historically, Mikel Arteta has not been eager to throw in young players. The Gunners gave the second-fewest minutes to academy graduates of any outfit in the Premier League last season. However, Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly have shown that if they are good enough to play, chances are there.<\/p>\n

What might have mattered more to this choice from the 18-year-old is the current composition of Arsenal’s squad.<\/p>\n

The “highly rated<\/a>” defender made his debut in a 3-0 win over Preston North End in the Carabao Cup. But he spends most of his time learning from one of the best partnerships in the league. Heaven can play as a left-back. But there are also options aplenty here. Jurri\u00ebn Timber is fit again after an ACL injury; Riccardo Calafiori, the club\u2019s biggest summer signing, is also a left back, and Lewis-Skelly’s route into the starting eleven was through a series of knee injuries for the Italian defender.<\/p>\n

In a worst-case scenario, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior take on this duty for the team.<\/p>\n
