It worked out well with a three-one victory after going a goal behind. The big decision for Eddie Howe will be who is likely to partner Dan Burn in central defence. Sven Botman, the Dutch £40million signing from Lille two years ago has had injury problems but also vital game time recently.

Fabian Schar is expected to get the nod as Howe trusts the Swiss international who is out of contract at the end of the season but has given encouraging signs that he will extend his stay on Tyneside. For seven years he has been a regular starter and, under Howe, his partnership with Dan Burn is one of the reasons Newcastle have a solid foundation for success. Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall will return as first-choice full-backs.

Midfield is where Newcastle have excelled in this current tremendous run of form with Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali alongside Joelinton. Alexander Isak is the man in form and as well as receiving killer passes from those three key midfielders, Isak gets plenty of service in and around the penalty box from Anthony Gordon and the impressive Jacob Murphy.

How Newcastle United Have Lined Up Recently

Full backs Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett both started in the FA Cup tie against League Two side Bromley alongside central defenders Fabian Schar and Lloyd Kelly. In midfield, Lewis Miley celebrated his return to first-team action with a goal and played alongside Sean Longstaff and Joelinton.

The front three saw Miguel Almiron and Harvey Barnes play either side of the focal point of attack, William Osula. The 21-year-old Dane hasn’t started many games in his career, never mind with Newcastle, but he showed enough with Sheffield United and Derby County on loan for Newcastle to take a chance on him for a modest £10million.

Most of the Geordie support would like to see Osula get more minutes, but Alexander Isak is undoubtedly Newcastle’s talisman. There is next to no chance of him leaving in this window despite the mounting speculation. It was a great pity for Harvey Barnes to pick up an injury that forced him off at halftime at the weekend. He has been a very productive substitute in recent weeks and has added some vital goals.

Read More: How Sandro Tonali Fits Into Newcastle United’s Midfield

Newcastle United Recent Form

Only Nottingham Forest have picked up more points in the last six Premier League games and the Geordies fear no one. They must fancy their chances of scoring against a Wolves side that have conceded more goals than any other in the league and sit just above the relegation places.

Newcastle United Injuries to Consider

Harvey Barnes had to go off at half-time in the victory over Bromley with a muscle injury that Howe is genuinely concerned about. As things stand, he is unsure how long he’ll be away from first-team action. Sven Botman, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock and Alexander Isak are all carrying knocks but nothing so serious that would keep them out of this one.

Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Emil Krafth and Nick Pope have still to regain full fitness and are working back to full fitness.

Newcastle United Predicted Lineup

GK: Martin Dubravka

RB: Tino Livramento

RCB: Fabian Schar

LCB: Dan Burn

LB: Lewis Hall

RM: Bruno Guimaraes

CM: Sandro Tonali

LM: Joelinton

RW: Jacob Murphy

STR: Alexander Isak

LW: Anthony Gordon

Read More: Here We Go: Manchester City Set To Sign ‘Monster’ Youngster

After progressing to the next round of the FA Cup with a comfortable win over League Two side Bromley, albeit after a scare, Eddie Howe and Newcastle United are looking to make it nine wins in a row when Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to St James Park on Premier League business.
