According to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, Sunderland have agreed a deal with Italian giants AS Roma for midfielder Enzo Le Fee. The Black Cats will sign the Frenchman on loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy should they achieve their aim of securing promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

According to the Sunderland Echo<\/a>, the fee, should the club regain their Premier League status would be 23 million Euros. It would be a club record should it go ahead.<\/p>\n

Sunderland Set to Sign Midfielder From Italian Giants<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sunderland\u2019s first signing of the January transfer window would be a perfect way to show their ambition and also give a statement of intent to the rest of the clubs chasing promotion to the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n

Who is Enzo Le Fee?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

24-year-old Le Fee who can play as either a holding\/deep-lying playmaker or an advanced attacking midfielder, began his career at French club Lorient.<\/p>\n

His all-action style of play made him a key member of the team managed by current Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris as Lorient secured a 10th-place finish and threatened the European places in Ligue 1 for much of the season. However, like several others, he was sold by Lorient following their successful season.<\/p>\n

A season at Rennes followed before his form and ability caught the eye of Italian giants AS Roma. The Serie A side paid a reported 23 million euros for him last summer. However, he has struggled for game time in Italy and a move to play with his former manager could once again bring the best out of him.<\/p>\n

Gives Regis Le Bris Options<\/h3>\n

The signing of midfielder Enzo Le Fee will give head coach Regis Le Bris much-needed options in the middle of the field. Captain Dan Neil, Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg have performed exceptionally well this season; however, both Bellingham and Rigg are both teenagers and with Rigg amongst others injured these past few games, it has forced Le Bris to change tactics.
