Oxford United<\/a> have made their first signing of the January transfer window with the arrival of forward, Ole Romeny.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old has penned a three-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee, with reports<\/a> suggesting it could be as much as \u00a31.6 million.<\/p>\n

Ole Romeny Career so Far<\/h3>\n

Romeny made his senior debut at NEC and spent five seasons before a move to Emmen. His promising displays prompted a move to Utrecht, where he signed a three-and-a-half year deal in 2023.<\/p>\n

He scored 12 times on 77 at NEC, where he also added eight assists, before netting 14 in 51 during his time at Emmen. The goals haven’t been as free flowing since a return to the top-flight with Utrecht, with just three in 32.<\/p>\n

He has also represented the Netherlands at various youth levels but opted to represent Indonesia at senior level last year.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Head coach, Gary Rowett, said<\/a>: \u201cEven though I\u2019ve only recently arrived at the Club, I have had many conversations with the recruitment team about our plans for this January window.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery early in those discussions, Ole\u2019s name was brought to my attention and, having watched a number of his clips, I\u2019m pleased we could move quickly to bring him into the Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a very creative forward, who can help both in scoring goals and making chances. He arrives with a wealth of experience at a really good level in the Netherlands and it will be exciting to see what he can deliver.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have had a really good opportunity over my first few weeks to assess the squad in training and competitive action, and the recruitment team are working hard to make some additions this month to help us in our ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations, said: \u201cWe have studied Ole throughout the season, and we believe he is a talented player who still has plenty of room to grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving looked to the Eredivisie previously, we have watched Ole play on several occasions in person and we are confident he will improve the quality of our group.<\/p>\n
