How Celtic Have Lined Up Recently<\/h3>\n

Brendan Rodgers’ men lined up against Rangers exactly as predicted on Last Word on Football. However, it is safe to say the game didn’t pan out as many thought it would.<\/p>\n

It’s for that reason that many of the frequent starters may find themselves with a place on the bench on Sunday. Truthfully, with a heavy schedule, rotation was likely anyway, though now it is a certainty.<\/p>\n

Celtic’s Recent Form and Tactics<\/h3>\n

Heading into Ibrox, Celtic were as confident as ever. On the back of two 4-0 wins against a side who had failed to win in their last two and fourteen points behind them, a win seemed likely. Plus, with a record of just one loss in the previous seven derbies, it seemed a borderline certainty. Furthermore, with Rangers missing key personnel in defence and in goal, the question became: can there be any other outcome than a Celtic win ?<\/p>\n

Yet, football has a funny way of bringing you back down to earth. A seemingly invincible side – domestically at least – were bettered all over the park.<\/p>\n

The Celtic defence struggled to do the basics, only Cameron Carter-Vickers could have his head held high. Alastair Johnson, Greg Taylor and particularly Liam Scales struggled to make basic passes all day which made Rodgers’ desire of building from the back an impossibility.<\/p>\n

Callum McGregor struggled to get involved and was uncharacteristically slack, meanwhile Reo Hatate provided one of his worst performances in a Celtic shirt.<\/p>\n

In the second half, the Hoops went more direct, skipping the Rangers defence by playing Kyogo in behind. They were nearly rewarded as Kyogo was denied an equaliser for being just inches offside.<\/p>\n

Consequentially, Rangers retreated their defensive line and once more the Champions looked devoid of ideas.<\/p>\n
