Oxford United<\/a> began life post-Des Buckingham with a 4-0 thumping on the road at Leeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The hosts dominated the first half but only headed into the break with a one-goal lead. However, after the break, the floodgates opened.<\/p>\n

Gifted Goals<\/h3>\n

It was always going to be a difficult afternoon at Elland Road but with Oxford shooting themselves in the foot on several occasions, it was made much easier for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Przemyslaw Placheta conceded possession for the first goal, while Will Vaulks and Mark Harris were also at fault for the third and fourth goals respectively.<\/p>\n

The U’s conceded possession to easily throughout the 90, and struggled to get any attacking rhythm together.<\/p>\n

Despite that, Oxford did have chances themselves. Placheta blazed one over when one-on-one while Ciaron Brown came close with a header from a free-kick after the restart.<\/p>\n

Difference in Class<\/h3>\n

There was some talk on The Dub earlier in the week that Leeds have spent more just on their goalkeepers than the U’s have on their entitled defence.<\/p>\n

Not only that, but there squad is made up of some top-class international players and former Premier League stars, while Oxford’s squad remains that in large parts of a League One outfit.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, and we’ve said this before, defeats against the likes of Leeds, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough won’t define the season but they are confident-sapping results.<\/p>\n

Jamie Cumming<\/h3>\n

Ending on a positive note, it was another impressive display between the sticks from Jamie Cumming, and the scoreline would have been worse were it not for him.<\/p>\n

The former Chelsea man made a string of key saves during the game, with a couple coming when the U’s were only one-goal down.<\/p>\n

Despite conceding four, the saves should do his confidence some good ahead of what are must-win games against Cardiff and Plymouth next.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
