Under Amorim, United have lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Andr\u00e9 Onana in goal behind a defence of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt<\/a> and Lisandro Martinez. Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot have been the most regularly used wing-backs.<\/p>\n

In midfield, two of Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have been used, with Bruno Fernandes also tending to drop deeper to gain possession. United’s seven game unbeaten run finally came to an end on Wednesday, but former Sporting Lisbon<\/a> coach Amorim has made a positive start to life at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Whilst the adjustment to a new system will take time and there will be bumps along the road as we saw this week, the stability of the defence and the re-emergence of players such as Mason Mount in an offensive midfield role show that the new manager is already having a positive effect on the squad.<\/p>\n

Luke Shaw is once again injured with his return date unclear, whilst Jonny Evans also remains sidelined.
