It has been reported<\/a> recently that the Football Association (FA) are ready to dish out a seven-match ban for the Uruguayan midfielder for the racist remarks he made at teammate Son Heung-min earlier this June, where he hinted that all South Korean people look the same. So far, the club haven’t contacted me. I already knew more or less where it was going. Now the sanction is out, I want to be calm here with the national team. Then we’ll see when it’s time to go back.”<\/p>\n Bentancur issued a public apology for this incident right after it happened in June of 2024 and Son has not shown any disdain for the incident, as he had stated<\/a> earlier this year: “We had a lot of good memories, we started playing together when he joined. He apologised straight afterwards, you know, when we had a holiday.\u00a0 I was at home and I didn\u2019t even realise what was going on. He just sent me a long text message that you could feel was coming from his heart. Afterwards, when he came back to the training ground for pre season, he just like felt really sorry and almost like cried when he apologised publicly and also personally as well.
