Via WatchPlayback he explained<\/a> that the club couldn’t offer close to his Napoli salary, and Osimhen didn’t want to cut it that much. Now, the “deal [is] completely off”.<\/a><\/p>\n

Romano said it best: “I think Chelsea thought that maybe players could be tempted last minute if they had no other possibilities even if the salary wasn\u2019t the best”. The Blues risked too much by leaving the deal until the last minute, and lost their biggest transfer target.<\/p>\n

Now, they are left with Nicolas Jackson to lead the line for half a year, in a huge season in which securing European football is a must. The board knew this was a priority all summer, and spent it negotiating and trying to cut corners that weren’t there. They are set to have signed 12 players, three of which were for \u00a330 million+, and yet no striker.
