A percentage of any fee will be due to his former club <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2024\/08\/30\/west-ham-carney-chukwuemeka-manchester-united\/\" target=\"_self\">West Ham United<\/a>; however, Sunderland will gain a healthy profit should the loan go to plan on a player who signed for an undisclosed but nominal fee in January 2023.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The deal was confirmed by Sunderland&#8217;s official website <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.safc.com\/news\/2024\/august\/30\/Ekwah-joins-Saint--tienne\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">safc.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Done Deal: Sunderland Midfielder Pierre Ekwah Joins Saint-\u00c9tienne<\/h3>\n<p>Ekwah, who made 40 appearances for the Black Cats last season has fallen down the pecking order under new head coach Regis Le Bris due to injury and the form of Chris Rigg, Jobe Bellingham and Dan Neil plus new summer signing Alan Browne.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sunderlandecho.com\/sport\/football\/sunderland-afc\/sunderland-man-pierre-ekwah-agrees-ligue-1-club-deal-ahead-of-potential-ps6m-transfer-move-reports-4760899\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sunderland Echo<\/a>, several clubs from <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2024\/08\/29\/four-new-players-handed-england-place-by-carsely\/\" target=\"_self\">England<\/a> and abroad have declared an interest in Ekwah including Udinese and Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leicester.
