According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein<\/a>, Arsenal have rejected an offer from Ajax for their goalkeeper Ramsdale. The Dutch club had expressed interest in taking the player on loan, but Arsenal prefer a permanent sale.<\/p>\r\n

Despite Arsenal’s rejection, Ajax remain confident about completing a deal to bring Ramsdale to the \u00a0Johan Cruyff Arena. The Gunners might soften their stand if they don’t receive better offers from other clubs in the next few weeks.<\/p>\r\n

Ornstein also added that should Arsenal succeed in selling Ramsdale, they intend to move for Espanyol\u2019s\u00a0Joan Garcia<\/a> as a potential replacement.<\/p>\r\n

Fellow Premier League side Newcastle United had shown interest in Ramsdale, but the price tag slapped on him by Arsenal forced them to shift their attention towards other options. Subsequently, the Magpies bought Greek shot-stopper Odysseas Vlachodimos.<\/p>\r\n

Should Ramsdale Leave Arsenal?<\/h3>\r\n

After joining Arsenal in 2021, Ramsdale soon became a fan favourite due to his antics in goal. He also played a crucial role in the club’s surprise title challenge in the 2022\/23 season. However, the Englishman’s erratic and inconsistent style of play forced manager Mikel Arteta to look for better options.<\/p>\r\n

Eventually, David Raya arrived at the Emirates, consigning Ramsdale to a place on the bench. Arteta seems to prefer the Spaniard due to his superior passing ability.<\/p>\r\n

The goalkeeper might have no other option than leaving Arsenal if he wants to have any chance of becoming a regular starter and wearing the number one jersey for England in the 2026 World Cup.
