Arsenal had<\/span> contacted<\/span><\/a> Wolverhampton Wanderers a few days ago to express their interest in signing Bentley. According to <\/span>The Athletic<\/span><\/a>, the Gunners submitted an offer for the goalkeeper, which <\/span>was rejected<\/span> after being deemed too low. Wolves are willing to sell <\/span>only<\/span> if they receive enough money to reinvest in a new player.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sky Sports<\/span><\/a> has reported that the Arsenal bid was around \u00a350,000. <\/span>Wolves<\/span> are looking for a much larger figure, but Bentley has just one year remaining on his contract at Molineux, <\/span>and that<\/span> could convince his club to soften their stand on the valuation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gunners consider Bentley<\/span> a potential third-choice keeper behind David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale. Estonian Karl Hein, who recently signed a <\/span>new contract<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> is expected to depart on loan to gain some experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Has Bentley Fared So Far in His Career?<\/h3>\n

Bentley spent seven years from 2001 to 2008 at <\/span>Arsenal’s<\/span> youth academy before moving to Southend United. He slowly established himself as a regular in the <\/span>Shrimpers’<\/span> first team. He also starred for Brentford and Bristol City in the Championship and later was signed by Wolves.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 30-year-old has made just seven appearances for Wolves, including the one against Arsenal in the league in December 2023. He came on to replace the injured Jose Sa in the 22nd minute. Though he ended up on the losing <\/span>side<\/span> he made three saves and had a <\/span>passing accuracy of 65%<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bentley has won numerous individual accolades, underlining his talent at goal. He was named Player of the Year at Southend and <\/span>at<\/span> Bristol in 2014\/15 and 2020\/21 respectively.
