However, the general consensus is that certain positions need reinforcements for the 2024\/25 season. Here are the three positions that Arsenal must target in this transfer window.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arsenal Transfer Focus: Areas Requiring Immediate Attention<\/span><\/h2>\n

An Understudy for David Raya<\/span><\/h3>\n

Last season, David Raya overtook Aaron Ramsdale in the battle for the number one spot and <\/span>is set<\/span> to retain his place in 2024\/25. A keeper of <\/span>Ramsdale’s<\/span> quality will have no interest in being a bench warmer and will want to start every game.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the 26-year-old <\/span>ends up leaving<\/span>, Arsenal will need to buy an apt replacement. They <\/span>cannot<\/span> depend on the young Karl Hein should Raya become injured midway through a season. Though the Estonian recently signed a <\/span>new <\/span>contract<\/span><\/a> he will most likely be the third-choice keeper or depart on loan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, Ramsdale has the ambition of becoming <\/span>England’s<\/span> first-choice. He must count himself lucky for making it to the Euros despite not playing enough games in the past season. If he is to become the national <\/span>team’s<\/span> starting goalkeeper for the 2026 World <\/span>Cup,<\/span> he has no option other than quitting North London.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Versatile Midfielder<\/span><\/h3>\n

Arteta loves players who can excel in multiple positions. <\/span>It <\/span>wouldn’t<\/span> be a surprise if he signed a midfielder adept at <\/span>both<\/span> the number six and number eight <\/span>roles<\/span>.<\/span> Declan Rice has already been playing that role <\/span>but<\/span> having another midfielder in a similar mould <\/span>wouldn’t<\/span>\u00a0harm the team.<\/span><\/p>\n

With <\/span>Mohamed <\/span>Elneny’s<\/span> departure confirmed and Emile Smith Rowe’s<\/a> exit<\/span> very much a possibility, a midfield signing, preferably a young one, would ensure Arsenal have enough depth in that department. The club will also be conscious that Jorginho <\/span>isn’t<\/span> getting any younger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bruno Guimaraes<\/a>, <\/span>Joao Neves<\/span><\/a>, and Amadou Onana<\/a> have all featured in <\/span>Arsenal’s<\/span> transfer shortlist. Of them, Onana seems to be the most cost-effective option <\/span>thanks<\/span> to the financial troubles at Goodison Park. The other two <\/span>are expected<\/span> to cost somewhere around <\/span>\u00a3100 million<\/span>. <\/span>Martin Zubimendi<\/span><\/a>, another Arsenal target, remains uninterested in a transfer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lightning pace is something this Arsenal squad <\/span>doesn’t<\/span> have enough of. They require a winger who can put on the afterburners during counterattacks. Somebody comfortable playing on both wings would be an ideal addition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relieving the workload on Bukayo Saka is of paramount importance. A failure to do so means the 22-year-old could soon face repeated injuries and burnouts that could shorten his playing career.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of late, Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for <\/span>Pedro Neto and Nico Williams<\/span><\/a> but are facing some hurdles in moving for them. Signing a striker <\/span>doesn’t<\/span> seem to be in the transfer plans this summer, which makes bringing a winger to the Emirates mandatory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Should Arsenal Ignore Transfers for Other Positions?<\/span><\/h3>\n

There are other areas in which Arsenal may target transfers, though they are perhaps of less significance than the aforementioned three.<\/p>\n

The resurgence of Kai Havertz in the second half of 2023\/24 has alleviated to a great extent the immediate need for a striker. Besides, it <\/span>doesn’t<\/span> matter where the goals come from as long as they <\/span>arrive in abundance<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arsenal were showing some serious interest in Benjamin Sesko, but the RB Leipzig striker signed a <\/span>contract extension<\/span>, thus shooting down all transfer rumours. The Gunners may still try to sign him next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In defence, a left-back and a centre-back <\/span>are required<\/span>. <\/span>It was<\/span> a lack of replacement for the injured William Saliba <\/span>that<\/span> derailed the 2022\/23 <\/span>season’s<\/span> title charge.<\/span> However, the signing of Jurrien Timber has ensured that there are enough talented players to fill in if anyone gets injured.<\/span><\/p>\n

Buying players for every required spot might not be compatible with the Premier <\/span>League’s<\/span> profitability and sustainability rules, so fortifying the back four or the striker position may not be the focus this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
