Chelsea Women<\/a> fans can now relax their nerves as Sam Kerr has put to bed any exit rumours by signing a contract extension at Kingsmeadow until 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chelsea Handed Boost Amid <\/span>Kerr<\/span> Injury Recovery<\/span><\/h3>\n

Kerr’s contract extension will be music to her fans ears as they eagerly await her return from <\/span>a cruciate ligament injury she suffered in January during a warm-weather training camp in Morocco<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with the Blues.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the four years she has been at Chelsea, the Australian striker has scored 99 goals in 128 games, finishing as the Women’s Super League top scorer in 2020\/21 and 2021\/22 with 21 and 20 goals respectively – with the Blues winning the league in both campaigns.<\/span><\/p>\n

In response to her injury, the Blues signed Colombian No.9 Mayra Ramirez from Levante. <\/span>The 25-year-old scored five goals in 13 matches during the <\/span>final months of the campaign<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On signing her new deal, Kerr said<\/span><\/a>:<\/span> “<\/span>It\u2019s<\/span> really exciting and a very proud moment for me. The <\/span>women’s<\/span> team’s<\/span> General manager <\/span>Paul<\/span> Green <\/span>was<\/span> equally as delighted, emphasising how crucial the 30-year has been to the squad.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has won two FWA <\/span>Women’s<\/span> Footballer of the Year awards, a WSL Player of the Season Award, and a PFA <\/span>Players’<\/span>Player of the Year Award – just a handful of the accolades she has picked up during her time in England. 2023 also saw Kerr finish second in the Ballon <\/span>d’Or<\/span> standings, missing out on the prestigious trophy to <\/span>Barcelona’s<\/span> Aitana Bonmati.<\/span><\/p>\n
