The punishment was given by an independent commission appointed by the Premier League in January.<\/p>\n<p>It is the club&#8217;s second punishment this season, previously being docked six points for their first PSR breach. Everton\u2019s Potential New Owners And Why They Might Not Pass The \u2018Fit And Proper\u2019 Test<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the Club\u2019s position has been that no further sanction was appropriate, the Club is pleased to see that the Commission has given credit to the majority of the issues raised by the Club, including the concept of double punishment, the significant mitigating circumstances facing the Club due to the war in Ukraine, and the high level of co-operation and early admission of the Club\u2019s breach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An appeal is likely to not be decided by the campaign&#8217;s end, so if they were to find themselves in the relegation zone there is a possibility that they survive after the last game.<\/p>\n<h3>What It Means For The Rest Of The Season<\/h3>\n<p>The Toffees now sit 16th on the Premier League table, just two points outside the relegation zone. The win at the weekend, their first of 2024, against Burnley has provided some breathing room with seven games left to play.<\/p>\n<p>The result from the commission will give Luton Town and Nottingham Forest more hope at survival this season.
