Oxford United Weekly Round-Up: Josh Murphy on Current Form and International Appearances<\/h2>\n

‘I’m Absolutely Loving It’<\/h3>\n

Josh Murphy has hit a purple patch in front of goal and the winger is enjoying his current form.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old has hit four goals in eight games as the U’s look to secure a playoff spot.<\/p>\n

Asked about his role under Des Buckingham, Murphy said<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m absolutely loving it. He likes playing with his wingers, and he wants them to be influential in the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s given me lots of freedom and doesn\u2019t mind if I make a mistake. It\u2019s the same for Owen [Dale], and I think you can see it doesn\u2019t matter what side of the pitch the ball is on, everyone knows the ball\u2019s going to come in the box.<\/p>\n

\u201cOwen\u2019s been outstanding since he\u2019s come in and I think he deserved a goal. I think he\u2019s a bit gutted in there that he didn\u2019t score.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re going in the right direction and we\u2019re having a good attacking input in the game so hopefully that continues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now a senior professional in the changing room, Murphy is enjoying being one that the younger players look up to.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI think the boys look at me as one of the senior players. It\u2019s about trying to help each other because it\u2019s a team game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need everyone to pull in the right direction, and if it\u2019s just trying to jeer someone up or get the team going, then so be it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve chipped in with the goal, so whatever part I can play in this team, I\u2019m going to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

International Round-Up<\/h3>\n

On Thursday, Greg Leigh gave Jamaica the lead inside the opening minute in their CONCACAF Nations League semi-final against the USA.<\/p>\n

However, the hosts levelled in stoppage time and won the match 3-1 after extra time.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Fin Stevens played the full 90 minutes as Wales U21s came from behind against Lithuania to win 2-1 in their Euro U21 qualifier.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Ciaron Brown was an unused substitute in Northern Ireland’s friendly match away at Romania in Bucharest.<\/p>\n
