Sunderland have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Romaine Mundle from Standard Liege. The 20-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the fee undisclosed. The deal was confirmed by Sunderland’s official website safc.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mundle rose through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> and impressed in their youth teams before being called up to train with the first-team squad. Last summer, Mundle rejected a new contract at Spurs to sign a four-year deal with Standard Liege. The Londoner has appeared six times since moving to Belgium; however, he has cut his time short to return to England.<\/p>\n

Romaine Mundle has become Sunderland’s second signing of the transfer window following defender Leo Hjelde<\/a> who joined from Championship rivals Leeds United.<\/p>\n

New signing Romaine Mundle has spoken about moving to Wearside and also what fans can expect from him. He said<\/a>: “It feels surreal and I just can’t wait to get started, play in front of the fans and develop as a player,” Mundle said. It was a no-brainer for me, a club with a lot of history and it felt like the right move for me to progress with my career.<\/p>\n

“I’m a quick winger, skilful and willing to work hard. I’m excited [to get going]. The project here, the fanbase, the staff, I couldn’t really say no to be honest. It’s a massive club in England and for me and my development, it’s the right step. It’s an amazing stadium, I can’t wait for it to be packed and to be playing in front of the fans. I’m just ready to get going now.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
