Phil Hay, writing for The Athletic,<\/a>has confirmed Leeds United anger at Nadiem Amiri after the potential signing decided not to continue negotiations with the West Yorkshire club.<\/p>\n

Leeds United Anger as Deal Confirmed \u2018Dead\u2019<\/h2>\n

Midfielder Deal Off<\/h3>\n

Hay confirmed that this is a \u2018dead\u00a0deal<\/a>\u2019 after negotiations between Leeds and the Bayer Leverkusen player broke down. Having won an enthralling game against potential promotion rivals Ipswich Town on Saturday 26th August 4-3, Leeds arranged for a flight for Amiri to England ahead of what was expected to be a medical for the player.<\/p>\n

Change in Demands<\/h3>\n

Once Amiri arrived in Leeds<\/a>, it was felt that the deal was close. The midfielder attended the club\u2019s training ground facilities as well as holding what were felt to be positive conversation with Leeds\u2019 boss, Daniel Farke. Yet later in the same day, Amiri advised the Championship club that he did not wish to move to England and Leeds United after all, leaving the club frustrated and out of pocket having facilitated that flight from D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/p>\n

Amiri\u2019s camp are said to have made additional financial demands late in the day and the medical was never taken.<\/p>\n

Back and Forth<\/h3>\n

This late about turn from Amiri was not the first that Leeds had encountered with the deal being negotiated and the player changing his mind. However, with the players\u2019 willingness to fly to Leeds, it appeared that he was happy to make the switch before once again pulling the plug, much to the aggravation of Leeds who refused to organise or pay for his return flight home.<\/p>\n
