{"id":625136,"date":"2023-07-14T06:05:51","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T10:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/?p=625136"},"modified":"2023-07-14T13:31:35","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T17:31:35","slug":"liverpool-could-move-for-100-million-brighton-star","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2023\/07\/14\/liverpool-could-move-for-100-million-brighton-star\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool Considering Move for \u00a3100 million Brighton Star"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moises Caicedo is the latest midfielder linked with a move to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/category\/premier-league\/liverpool\/\" target=\"_self\">Liverpool<\/a>, with<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/talkSPORT\/status\/1679778478831353856\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> talkSPORT<\/a> reporting he is being considered should Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leave for Saudi Arabia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[metabet_core_side_odds_tile query=&#8221;soe\/soccer_finish_top_4&#8243; size=&#8221;350&#215;300&#8243; site_id=&#8221;lastwordonsports&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Liverpool contemplating move for Caicedo<\/h2>\n<h3>Midfield exits could tempt Liverpool to join race<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/talkSPORT\/status\/1679778478831353856\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Talksport<\/a> has revealed that Liverpool \u2018will consider joining the race\u2019 for Brighton\u2019s Caicedo should Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leave Anfield this summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both players have been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, with Henderson being offered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-12292819\/DOMINIC-KING-Jordan-Henderson-goes-Saudi-Arabia-700-000-week-GAME-CHANGER.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a reported \u00a3700k a week<\/a> to join up with Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq, whilst Fabinho could <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/1496685\/liverpool-fabinho-jordan-henderson-saudi-arabia-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">join Al Ittihad for \u00a340 million.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite already recruiting two new midfielders in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool remain light in midfield with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having all left the club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Romeo Lavia was already being <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2023\/07\/09\/liverpool-hold-talks-with-romeo-lavia\/\" target=\"_self\">linked with a move to Anfield<\/a> before the recent developments from Saudi Arabia, and now it would seem that should Liverpool lose their captain and Fabinho, a ready made Premier League midfielder is required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter Caicedo, the Brighton man has impressed many suitors in his time on the South coast with both Arsenal and Chelsea having voiced an interest in the midfielder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arsenal\u2019s interest has waned in recent months as they chase the signature of Declan Rice, however, Chelsea remain well and truly in the race for 21-year-old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Italian journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FabrizioRomano\/status\/1678801881617911808\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has already confirmed that \u2018talks are underway between Chelsea and Brighton\u2019, which could be a blow to Liverpool should they decide to make a move for the Ecuadorian.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>How much will Caicedo cost?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caicedo joined Brighton from Independiente for \u00a35 million in 2021, and after an initial loan to Belgium for the first half of the 2021\/22 season, he has gone on to make 53 appearances for the Seagulls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 21-year-old\u2019s performances last season are what have really caught the eye, though. With 37 Premier League appearances, Caicedo was a key member of both Graham Potter and then Roberto de Zerbi\u2019s sides as Brighton claimed European football for the first time in their history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brighton now value the midfielder at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/talkSPORT\/status\/1679778478831353856\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a3100 million<\/a> and if they are to get anywhere near that figure, it would again show the club\u2019s excellent dealings in the transfer market, and the club are likely to play hardball with one of their top assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ecuadorian was subject to several bids from Arsenal in January for a reported \u00a3 60 and \u00a370 million but these were rejected as they believed Caicedo was crucial in helping them achieve their dream of playing in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Brighton hierarchy has shown time and again that they will not sell their best players cheaply and it will be no different for Caicedo, if Liverpool or Chelsea want their man, they will have to stump up the cash.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moises Caicedo is the latest midfielder linked with a move to Liverpool, with talkSPORT reporting he is being considered should Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leave for Saudi Arabia.
