David Raya, Brentford’s in-form goalkeeper,\u00a0<\/span>has decided to put any contract talks on hold after rejecting a new deal<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in January 2023. The shot-stopper will have just one year left on his current deal, and a “scramble for his signature is expected in the summer<\/a>.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Tottenham, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been linked with the Spanish shot-stopper. It’s no secret that all three of these clubs have been searching for a new goalkeeper in recent times, and Raya’s impressive performances for the Bees have certainly caught their attention.\u00a0<\/span>Spurs No.1 Hugo Lloris is out with an injury at the moment<\/span><\/a>. Moreover, his recent form has not been anything to write home about.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Red Devils on the other hand are looking for a long-term replacement for David De Gea. The 32-year-old has been their main man between the sticks since 2011 and the club might look elsewhere to bring in a keeper who can play out from the back. Chelsea goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy have both struggled for form, which could see Graham Potter target a new goalkeeper in the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

David Raya’s Statement<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Spaniard himself has stated that now is not the right time to sign a contract. He\u00a0<\/span>told the PA news agency<\/span><\/a>: “I’m really, really happy and right now I’m just thinking about doing the best for the team and trying to push for Europe.” He also added, “I was offered a new contract last year and one in January but we didn’t reach an agreement. I would like to see what happens in the summer, however, I’m happy at Brentford.”<\/span><\/p>\n
