The Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has previously been described as “world class”<\/a> by a former coach. This could open the door for a move to Arsenal.<\/p>\n

Chelsea’s efforts to sign Moises Caicedo seem to have hit a dead end, with the club backing away from negotiations. In the podcast episode Ornstein noted that the Blues had backed off, instead changing their focus to Enzo Fernandez. Although the Argentinian would be a far more expensive signing, there’s an argument that he has a higher ceiling.<\/p>\n

What This Means For Arsenal Interest in the Player<\/h3>\n

In theory, this makes signing Moises Caicedo far simpler, as the Ecuadorian has no other suitors. In practice, this is far from true. According to The Athletic<\/a>, the Seagulls have told their player to stay away from training until February. This way they don’t have an unhappy player in the dressing room. Although Brighton rejected a \u00a360 million bid for the player and might earn more, they might see qualification for European competition as a more important prospect.<\/p>\n

What Will Arsenal and Chelsea Do?<\/h3>\n

Chelsea have a lot of interest in Enzo Fernandez and are continually pushing for an agreement with Benfica, reportedly offering \u00a3105 million. Meanwhile, Arsenal are still searching for a central midfielder to add depth to the axis of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. If a move for Moises Caicedo doesn’t work out for the Gunners, even after Florian Plettenberg reported a bid of \u00a370 million<\/a>, the club will need to find a new target on deadline day or risk being understaffed in a title race.<\/p>\n
