Arsenal may consider Portuguese international Joao Felix to be too expensive at the moment, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>. Atletico Madrid spent \u00a3113 million in the summer of 2019 to sign Felix and are looking to recoup as much as possible in any deal for the winger. With Arsenal also in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk for Mykhailo Mudryk<\/a>, they might consider the Portuguese international to be too much of a luxury move right now.<\/p>\n

The Gunners have reportedly had contacts with Jorge Mendes, Felix’s agent, over a deal for the winger. Atletico are apparently demanding close to \u00a315-16 million as a loan fee to sign the 23-year-old. In addition to this figure, the player’s salary might push the total fee close to \u00a320 million, which could pose problems to any potential suitors.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s biggest competitors in the race to sign Felix, Manchester United, have already backed off from the deal according to reports<\/a>. Romano suggests that Arsenal might follow suit as they look to strengthen other areas across the pitch.<\/p>\n

Felix\u2019s Relationship With Diego Simeone<\/h3>\n

Felix and his manager Diego Simeone have not always seen eye to eye in matters regarding the winger’s role. Despite winning Atletico’s Player of the Season in 2022, the Portuguese attacker has fallen down the pecking order amongst the club’s forwards. This season the youngster has often started on the bench, behind the likes of Angel Correa and Matheus Cunha.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, his relationship with his manager deteriorated further during a Champions League group stage match against Club Brugge<\/a>. In the second half of the match, Simeone sent him to warm up three times, only to leave him on the bench. Felix consequently asked Mendes to find him a new club in the January transfer window.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the moment, it remains to be seen where the forward’s future lies.<\/p>\n
