The Daily Mail has stated that the FA are looking into the case of Toney gambling on football over the course of this year. However, he hasn’t been charged for it, as there is still reportedly an investigation going on to look at whether he actually even did it or not. The 26-year-old has gained United’s interest, but they\u00a0<\/span>didn’t make any offer for him in the summer<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigation also relates to allegations that he gambled before playing for The Bees, but there are no suggestions that he ever bet against his own team.\u00a0<\/span>Brentford have acknowledged the allegations<\/span><\/a>\u00a0against their star striker, but have thus far refused to comment. Toney, however,\u00a0<\/span>has reacted<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to the news with a message on Twitter, assuring everyone that he is cooperating with the authorities on this matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

He wrote: “I’m aware of a story about me in a national newspaper today. I have been assisting the Football Association with their enquiries and will not be making any comment until such an investigation has reached its conclusion. Toney impressed again in his club’s recent 2-0 win over Brighton, with his manager Thomas Frank describing the striker’s performance as “<\/span>eye-catching.<\/span><\/a>” Toney has had a real rags-to-riches story in English Football. From playing in the third and fourth divisions of the English pyramid a few years ago with the likes of Peterborough United and Northampton Town to becoming one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League.<\/span><\/p>\n
