Chelsea<\/a> are looking to appoint PSG’s football advisor Luis Campos to be their new Sporting Director and work alongside newly-appointed manager Graham Potter, reports The Times<\/a>. The Blues are planning major restructuring of their squad as well as their system to ensure that they can start competing for major titles very soon.<\/p>\n

The Blues are not intimidated by the fact that the 58-year-old was only appointed by PSG to work in an advisory role back in June, as he helped them to sign new players for Christophe Galiter’s squad. Chelsea had discussed the appointment of a new sporting director as part of their talks with Potter before they confirmed him as their new boss, replacing Thomas Tuchel in the job.<\/p>\n

With Marina Granovskaia, who worked in the same role and helped push negotiations for player transfers, having left the club in the summer – Chelsea’s co-owner Todd Boehly undertook the responsibilities of negotiating the new signings in his first summer transfer window with them. But now he wants someone with major football expertise and an eye for recruiting talented players that can improve the team.<\/p>\n

Boehly is currently an interim sporting director at Stamford Bridge<\/a> and has already spoken with Campos about the possibility of accepting the role. If he does that, the Frenchman will have to quit his role at PSG. The 58-year-old is reportedly sharing tensions with some club officials<\/a> and could be tempted to oversee a major change of project at Chelsea.<\/p>\n

The London side spent a whopping \u00a3261 million on transfer fees in the summer window, the most ever spent by them in their history. But, The Times also adds that Chelsea are still planning to invest heavily in signing even more players for Potter in the January transfer window, as they believe to be unhappy with the quality of the current squad.<\/p>\n

Boehly wants to secure the appointment of a new Sporting Director before that and is really interested in bringing in Campos, who has been described as a ‘transfer mastermind’<\/a> in the past. The 58-year-old gained fame for his impressive work at Monaco, where he helped sign the likes of Bernardo Silva, Fabinho and Thomas Lemar for cheap and sell them for major fees. He has an eye for unearthing brilliant players and Chelsea want him to do some of the same for them.<\/p>\n
