Ajax are a team renowned for attacking talent, but the 2021-22 season saw the Dutch giants showcase their water-tight defence, with Timber being a vital cog in their backline which only conceded 19 goals in 34 games.<\/p>\n

The youngster is mainly a centre-back and partner with Martinez, but Timber is also adept as a right-back. He made his senior Ajax debut in March 2020, but during the following 2020-21 season, he began to show his promise making 20 appearances.<\/p>\n

During the last campaign, Timber had a superb season. He was influential in Ajax storming through their Champions League group in imperious fashion.<\/p>\n

Despite being only 21 years old Timber has already earned eight caps for the Netherlands national team.<\/p>\n

Why Timber Is a Wanted Man<\/h3>\n

Timber is very much a defender in the mould of the classic Dutch defenders like Ronald Koeman with his ball-carrying ability. He is also adept at handling the physical side of defending.<\/p>\n

The young Dutchman is a solid defender, but his progressive passing and all-around ability on the ball impress most. Timber has flourished at Ajax because they press high and dominate possession, showcasing his reading of the game and passing ability.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, Timber is not pushing to join Erik ten Hag<\/a> at Old Trafford. A move could happen in the future, but for now, it seems the young Dutchman will be staying at Ajax and continuing his development.<\/p>\n
