There has been an air of uncertainty around the club since Russian billionaire put the Blues up for sale. He had his assets frozen by the UK government meaning the club could not buy, sell or offer contracts. They were also unable to sell match tickets or merchandise. However, they were able to fulfil their fixture commitments due to a special licence granted to them by the government.<\/p>\n A statement released by the Premier League<\/a> said:<\/p>\n The members of the Consortium purchasing the club are affiliates of the Clearlake Capital Group, L.P.,\u00a0Todd Boehly,\u00a0Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter.<\/p>\n Chelsea FC will now work with the relevant Governments to secure the necessary licences to complete the takeover.<\/p>\n Now that the Premier League have given their approval, the\u00a0Todd Boehly\/Clearlake consortium, which is supported by the Clearlake Capital Group and fellow businessmen Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss now awaits the approval from the government.
