According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caughtoffside.com\/2022\/05\/09\/arsenal-working-on-nketiah-contract\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, Nketiah, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, has stepped up since the departure of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/04\/15\/barcelona-striker-aubameyang\/\" target=\"_self\">Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Englishman has scored four goals in his last four games as the Gunners aim to qualify for the Champions League.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Arsenal Want Eddie Nketiah to Extend His Stay<\/h2>\n<h3>Gunners Career so Far<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nketiah joined the Arsenal youth academy in 2015 and made his first-team debut in 2017. The 22-year-old also spent a season on loan at <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/04\/27\/manchester-united-leeds-united-midfielder\/\" target=\"_self\">Leeds United<\/a>, scoring three goals in 17 appearances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The forward scored a brace against <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Whites <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on Sunday to help Arsenal to a 2-1 victory. Gunners boss <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/05\/06\/arsenal-manager-both-managers-new-contracts\/\" target=\"_self\">Mikel Arteta<\/a> was full of praise for Nketiah after the match, he said: &#8220;This boy doesn\u2019t change, that\u2019s why we absolutely adore him &amp; he deserves what is happening to him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;He\u2019s still got a lot to do but now he has the right environment and he has the right personnel around him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Now he can be judged by what he does on the pitch and before he didn\u2019t have that context.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Nketiah Happy to be Back in First Team<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was heavily rumoured that Nketiah was keen to leave the Emirates at the end of the season due to playing time, but since his return to regular first-team football, Arteta wants him to stick around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SkySportsPL\/status\/1523322340079140864?s=20&amp;t=pn3afsL-ZDPKeSvQpLxoUQ\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sky Sports<\/a> after the match, Nketiah expressed his happiness of being back in the side, he said: &#8220;It&#8217;s a great atmosphere throughout the whole season, it&#8217;s been excellent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s amazing to be involved. Any player just wants to be playing and get the opportunities. I&#8217;ve worked hard throughout the season to make sure that I was ready when I got my chance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;[It is] credit to my teammates for helping me play and do well. I&#8217;m just happy to be on the team and helping.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nketiah will hope to keep his good form up and help Arsenal qualify for the Champions League.
