Andrea Pirlo is set to return to management, according to Fabrizio Romano.<\/a> The report states Pirlo is top of Spezia’s list to replace Thiago Motta, who is expected to leave for a new experience. The move would see Pirlo go from Juventus<\/a> to Spezia.<\/p>\n

Spezia are 16th in Serie A and looking comfortable from the relegation places.<\/p>\n

Pirlo hasn’t coached since leaving Juventus at the end of May 2021.<\/p>\n

From Juventus to Spezia: Andrea Pirlo Set for Managerial Return<\/h2>\n

First Year in Management<\/h3>\n

Pirlo initially returned to Juve, where he spent four years as a player, as U23s boss. Just days after his appointment though, Juventus opted to make him first-team manager after the dismissal of former Napoli and Chelsea<\/a> boss Maurizio Sarri<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old’s start to managerial life was typically short. He managed one sole season, guiding Juventus to fourth place in Serie A – which did amount to Champions League qualification. He would then be replaced with former boss Massimiliano Allegri, who decided to return to Turin.<\/p>\n

Juventus remain in the same place as they were when Pirlo departed – fourth – and have confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League.<\/p>\n

Plenty of Time to Get it Right<\/h3>\n

If anything, taking over at Spezia, where expectations are lower, might help Andrea Pirlo reignite his managerial reputation.<\/p>\n

Starting out at Juventus in a period of transition, where they have fallen from dominating the league, was always going to be a tough start.<\/p>\n

Should he join the club, Pirlo will look to build something with Spezia and improve them as well as his own chances of becoming a top manager.<\/p>\n

He brings about a sense of attraction in Italy that few other names hold having been a great player, who represented all of Inter Milan, AC Milan<\/a> and Juventus.<\/p>\n
