The German\u2019s contract was originally set to end next summer. The Bavarians lifted the Bundesliga title for the tenth consecutive season last month with Muller collecting his 11<sup>th<\/sup> winner&#8217;s medal \u2013 the most of anyone in German football history.<\/p>\r\n<p>It\u2019s a beautiful story. Muller has spent his life adoring Bayern and joined the club at ten years old, representing every age group since. He made his full Bayern Munich debut on August 15, 2008, under Jurgen Klinsmann. Bayern Munich announced his new contract in the most perfect way, with a picture of Muller as a youngster with the Bayern shirt on, and him now, with the same replica shirt on. Thomas Muller is Bayern Munich through and through.<\/p>\r\n<h3>No Signs of Slowing Down<\/h3>\r\n<p>The number 25 has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transfermarkt.co.uk\/thomas-muller\/leistungsdaten\/spieler\/58358\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">12 goals and 24 assists<\/a> for the Bavarians this season, showing this new contract isn\u2019t just a loyalty bonus. The 32-year-old has played 43 games this season, mostly from the start. With Robert Lewandowski, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/04\/08\/serge-gnabry-contract-extension-bayern-munich\/\" target=\"_self\">Serge Gnabry<\/a>, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala and Leon Goretzka among others battling for attacking roles, it is a credit to the German that he\u2019s been on the pitch 84 per cent of the time in the Bundesliga for Bayern this season.<\/p>\r\n<p>Bayern and Germany legend, and current CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FCBayernEN\/status\/1521465479541542912\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oliver Kahn, said<\/a>, \u201cThomas Muller is an icon who wears the club badge in his heart.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;FC Bayern has always been characterised by continuity, and therefore we\u2019re pleased that we\u2019ve managed to extend the contract of this important player.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;He\u2019s someone who assumes leadership and is also an important character in the dressing room with his personality.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<h3>How it Could Have Been so Different<\/h3>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2022\/05\/03\/diogo-dalot-manchester-united-teammates-manager\/\" target=\"_self\">Manchester United<\/a> fans may recall Muller <a href=\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/football\/984949\/man-utd-transfer-thomas-muller-bayern-van-gaal\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">being linked with a move to Old Trafford<\/a> in 2015. Former manager Louis van Gaal was a huge fan of the forward and wanted to bring him to Manchester. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Bayern were understandably reluctant to sell. Muller signed a new deal to keep him there, which seems a smart decision in hindsight.<\/p>\r\n<p>Muller won the Champions League for the second time in 2020 to add to his 30 trophies at Bayern and World Cup winner\u2019s medal.
