Leeds United<\/a> midfielder Kalvin Phillips could be subject to a \u00a350 million bid from arch-rivals Manchester United<\/a> in the summer, according to The Athletic<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Athletic also reported that Phillips could be looking for a change in representation too, as his contract with his current agents expires in the summer of 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that currently no contact has been made between Manchester United and Leeds United, or Phillips, at this moment in time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leeds United Midfielder Could Be Subject to Manchester United Transfer in Summer<\/h2>\n

Kalvin Phillips Interest<\/h3>\n

The England international seems to be in high demand as speculation over his future at Elland Road continues. Leeds reportedly received interest in the midfielder back in January when both Aston Villa<\/a> and West Ham United<\/a> enquired about the player\u2019s availability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a strong showing for England at Euro 2020, earning Phillips England\u2019s Player of the Year award, interest in the Leeds midfielder has only grown.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Manchester United seem to be keeping an eye on the midfielder as they look to start a new era under incoming manager Erik ten Hag<\/a>. With the likes of Paul Pogba<\/a> and Nemanja Matic<\/a> both likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer, the midfield will likely be an area that the new manager will look to strengthen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Would Phillips Leave Leeds?<\/b><\/h3>\n

There is still a question of whether the Leeds-born Phillips would leave his boyhood club and, more importantly, if he would leave for a fierce rival such as Manchester United. The last player to make the switch from Yorkshire to the red-side of Lancashire was Alan Smith, however, the circumstances were largely different then as Leeds were facing catastrophic financial troubles<\/a> at the time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The outcome will largely depend on Leeds\u2019 Premier League status for the 2022\/23 season, as the Yorkshire club find themselves still in a relegation battle, sitting in 16th place with five games left to play. If Leeds were to be relegated come the end of the season, it’s highly likely that the club would look to offload their valuable assets, Phillips being one of them, as they prepare for life in the Championship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If Leeds can retain their Premier League status for next season, then Phillips may remain at Leeds to try and achieve his goals with his boyhood club. It is reported that the club have opened contract talks<\/a> with the England midfielder with hopes to keep him at the club beyond his current deal, which expires in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n
