Aston Villa<\/a> midfielder Jacob Ramsey<\/a> has signed a new long term contract with the Premier League club.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old, who came through the club’s academy, has become a key component of Steven Gerrard<\/a>‘s side.<\/p>\n

Another Villa Youngster Gaining First-Team Football<\/h3>\n

Having broken through into the first team last season, Jacob Ramsey has become a regular this campaign under both Dean Smith<\/a> and Steven Gerrard.<\/p>\n

He is part of a talented pool of youngsters to emerge from the academy, including Carney Chukwuemeka, Cameron Archer, and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.<\/p>\n

This season, the midfielder has turned out 31 times and added six goals. Of those appearances, the 20-year-old has started the last 18. He was also named in the England U21 squad last month and scored in a 4-1 victory against Andorra U21.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking after signing the new contract<\/a>, Ramsey said: \u201cIt\u2019s a proud moment for me, especially for my family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been here a long time now, come through the academy, and to sign for another five years at this club, I\u2019m over the moon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many people who have helped me get to this point now, I can\u2019t thank everyone enough from U9s, to being a scholar, to U23s and then stepping up to the first team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been good; a lot of up and down moments but it\u2019s all part of the journey and I feel like I\u2019ve been playing well this season so it\u2019s nice to be rewarded with a new contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also revealed his desire to play European football during his time at the club. He added: \u201cI think everyone knows that the owners, Christian (Purslow) and the gaffer have got big ambitions. So I think the obvious one is to play European football.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy plan for the next five years is to get this club playing European football again.\u201d<\/p>\n
